Counselling Services
I am a fully registered counsellor with deep experience supporting people across rural New Zealand through stress, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting pressures, and the everyday realities of farming life. My approach is steady, practical, and evidence‑based, drawing on person‑centred practice and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I work with adults and young people, helping them understand their internal world, build emotional flexibility, and develop tools that genuinely fit their lives. My counselling style is calm, respectful, and grounded in real‑world experience — a space where people don’t have to explain the basics of their lifestyle before we can get to the heart of what’s going on. I’m not a “softly‑softly” or new‑age practitioner. My work is steady, honest, and grounded in what actually helps people move forward.
My work is shaped by a lifelong connection to agriculture and a clear understanding of the pressures, rhythms, and responsibilities that come with farming. I understand the weight of multi‑generational expectations, the emotional load of caring for land and stock, the unpredictability of weather and markets, and the way work and home life are inseparable on a farm.
I also have extensive experience supporting families through farm succession, where identity, belonging, grief, and legacy often collide in ways that are rarely talked about openly. Alongside this, I specialise in the mental‑health aspects of firearms licensing, supporting clients through the practical and emotional impacts of licence changes, reviews, management or revocations. My broader specialist areas include rural mental health, trauma‑informed practice, youth wellbeing, and the emotional impacts of isolation, land‑use change, and community disruption. Whether someone feels overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, I work alongside them to reconnect with their strengths, values, and sense of agency — in a way that respects the realities of rural life.
I can draw upon multiple funding streams, including ACC Sensitive Claims, Gumboot Friday, and WINZ. Please inform me if you believe you are eligible for funding, if you contact me.
Currently, my availability is very limited due to working on submitting my PhD thesis. I am also online only, but I will walk with you through this process, and many people find video calling suits them very well as it removes the stress of travel and time off work.
