I am an experienced public speaker and regularly present at rural events, schools, sector conferences, and community gatherings across New Zealand. My talks focus on rural mental health, stress, identity, community connection, youth wellbeing, and the pressures facing farming families and rural professionals. I’ve spoken at field days, health sector forums, Rural Support Trust events, school staff development days, and community workshops, as well as contributing to national conversations through panels, webinars, and media interviews. My speaking style is clear, grounded, and practical — shaped by both clinical expertise and lived rural experience — and I aim to give audiences tools they can use immediately in their homes, workplaces, and communities.

I’m committed to providing ongoing professional development, particularly training that strengthens the wellbeing of rural people and the professionals who support them. I’m currently offering Cultivate, an agriculture‑informed mental health programme, as well as the Mental Hunts 101 training, and I actively seek out workshops that deepen understanding of rural stress, safety, identity, and community dynamics. I’m open to any bespoke training that is practical, evidence‑based, and genuinely targeted to the needs of those working with and for rural communities. My goal is always the same: to keep expanding my skills in ways that meaningfully support the people who live, work, and raise families in rural New Zealand.

MentalHunts is proud to announce that we have delivered our very first MentalHunts 101 training programme, taking place in Wānaka on 4 June. This milestone marks over a year of development, collaboration, and commitment to creating something meaningful and practical for New Zealand’s firearms community. Watch out for upcoming workshops here or follow Mental Hunts on Instagram here.

MentalHunts 101 is an evidence based mental health training programme designed specifically for firearms licence holders. It focuses on breaking down stigma, building confidence around help seeking, and strengthening understanding of personal responsibility, wellbeing, and the realities that sit alongside firearms ownership. The course is practical, relevant, and delivered in a safe, no-judgement environment.

With the support and guidance from an advisory board of experts across mental health, rural wellbeing, and the firearms sector, this programme has been carefully developed to ensure it is both credible and fit for purpose. It reflects the unique culture and challenges of New Zealand’s hunting and firearms community.

Cultivate is an agriculture‑informed mental health training programme designed to strengthen the capability of professionals working alongside farmers, growers, and rural communities. The course brings together practical, evidence‑based learning with a deep understanding of the pressures, culture, and realities of the primary sector. It focuses on recognising rural stress, supporting early help‑seeking, and building confidence to have safe, grounded conversations with people in agriculture. This training aligns strongly with my commitment to rural wellbeing and ensures that the support I offer is not only clinically sound but also genuinely informed by the lived experience of those who work on the land.
